My 2020 really was a non-starter. I managed to fit in two races before we went into a series of lockdowns and tough restrictions; a duathlon and an aquathlon.
My first race was last February, the Bishampton Duathlon. This involved a wet and very blustery 6km run, 22km cycle and a 3km run to finish. Despite this being my first race following months of physio for a hamstring tendinopathy. I was pretty chuffed to finish 2nd in my age-group. My second race was the Burntwood Aquathlon (400m swim and a 5km run) in early March, the weather was kind and I felt strong. I came 1st in my age-group and 4th overall.
The remainder of the season was supposed to involve ETU races in Austria and Sweden, hopefully these races will go ahead this year and I'll be able to represent GB in my age-group once more.
Due to the amount of time I've been able to spend on the turbo trainer and Zwift during lockdown I have found that my endurance cycling has massively improved so I am very tempted to enter a middle distance triathlon towards the end of the season...fingers crossed!
